Clark-Shawnee Local Schools will continue hybrid learning through Feb. 19 before transitioning to full-time, in-person learning on March 1, according to the district’s superintendent.

Students will continue hybrid learning through Feb. 19 to allow for employees to receive the coronavirus vaccine, Superintendent Brian Kuhn said.

School employees in Clark County are scheduled to be vaccinated this week, according to the Clark County Combined Health District.

Students who chose the in-person option will attend school Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during the week of Feb. 22-26. Wednesday will be used to evaluate and adjust school operations, Kuhn said. Bus routes and times will also be changed due to the increase in routes and students attending school.

The district will adopt the new quarantine guidelines provided by the Ohio Department of Health during the week of Feb. 22 to help reduce the number of students and staff who may need to be quarantined.

“Beginning March 1, all in-person learners will attend school Monday through Friday,” Kuhn said. “Virtual Learning Academy students will receive daily live instruction Monday through Friday.”

Kuhn added that preschool students will maintain their current four-day schedule.

For the week of Jan 26-Feb. 1, Clark-Shawnee reported four student and two staff coronavirus cases.

“We will continue to navigate the balance between educational best practices and health and safety guidelines,” Kuhn said.
